This is not your typical pelvic health PT.

Your PT specializes in the unique needs of the female athlete. Whether you’re hitting the gym for the first time in a while, an avid weekend warrior, or ultramarathoner, mvmt·ology is the place for you. You’ll discover the root cause of your concerns and address long standing issues and musculoskeletal imbalances. You’ll receive education about your body mechanics, a home program specifically designed with your goals in mind, and strategies for maintaining optimal function and balance. Consider us your guide to regaining confidence in your fitness endeavors.

What Should I Expect?

The Evaluation: Your appointment will begin by discussing the particular area of concern, symptoms and pain, medial history, and your personal goals for physical therapy.

A holistic, full-body assessment will follow the discussion and may include: postural assessment, functional movement assessment, thorough musculoskeletal assessment including range of motion and strength testing, and neurological screening. The evaluation or first treatment session may also include an internal exam. Note that it does not have to include an internal exam. We meet you where you’re at and provide the best care that feels appropriate and comfortable for you.

We believe that education is empowering and we’ll spend time walking you through what the findings of your evaluation mean, crafting a treatment plan tailored to meet your goals, and answering any questions you may have. We’ll leave time at the end of the session to start your plan of care so you walk away with actionable steps from day one.

The Treatment: Let’s progress that plan of care! With each treatment session, you will continue to be seen one-on-one by your PT who may begin by asking about your symptom updates and if you have any questions about your home exercise program.

Then you’ll dive into motion. Your treatment session may include: manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise, and neuromuscular re-education. We place a strong emphasize on movement education and reorganization and you may be introduced to Pilates apparatus including the reformer, tower, and chair. Similar to the evaluation, this may include internal manual techniques as deemed appropriate by your PT. Note that we don’t have to include internal therapy. We’ll continue to have conversations along the way to make sure you’re comfortable with your plan of care!
